The Feile Strokestown Flute Forum offers a rare glimpse into the playing of some of Roscommon’s finest exponents of the flute. The players will demonstrate and talk about what makes Roscommon flute playing so distinctive and also so popular amongst flute players the world over. The panel will also take questions from audience members and this promises to be a hugely popular event unique to Feile Strokestown. Joe Donoghue was a founding member of the Killina Ceili Band in 1957. He played the fiddle and the Saxophone. He also played the Bag Pipes with the Raheen pipe Band for over 40 years. His musical abilities gained him recognition in the traditional music scene. Joe toured all over Ireland and the UK with his musical colleagues. The Tulla Céilí was formed in 1946 by Paddy Canny and PJ Hayes. Their passion for traditional Irish music and their talent, set the tone for the band.
